Even with the absolute best care, it's inevitable that components on your HP Pavilion DV6-3000 will break down at some point. One of the components that most commonly requires replacement is the keyboard key. Luckily, this is also probably the easiest laptop component to replace. If your HP Pavilion DV6-3000 keyboard's key has recently broken or is simply worn out, you'll find that replacing it is a pretty straight forward process, even if you've never replaced a laptop component before.
Purchase a new HP Pavilion DV6-3000 Keyboard key. You can typically purchase one through online auction sites such as eBay or online retailers like Individual Keys.
Remove the old keyboard key by putting the tip of your fingernail underneath the top right of the key you want to replace.
Lift the key upward to remove the key.
Push the hinge into place on the HP Pavilion Keyboard, and put the rubber spring piece into place. This step is not necessary if your old keyboard key's hinge is still in place. Do this only if you need to replace it as well as the keyboard key.
Align the replacement key on the keyboard so that it is in the correct place.
Push the key firmly in place, and move it slightly around until you hear a clicking sound. This indicates that the keyboard key has been replaced successfully.
